Chinese firms explore investment, agro-product import chances
A business delegation from China are paying a visit to Vietnam to study the possibility of investing and importing agro-forestry-aquatic products of the Southeast Asian country.
At a working session in Hanoi on February 18 with officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), several Chinese enterprises decided to import 100,000 tons of rice from Vietnam in the time ahead.
Some other businesses wanted to import "ca loc" – a kind of freshwater fish, violet-fresh sweet potatoes and durians from Vietnam.
Representatives of the Chinese firms said they want to set up partnerships with major Vietnamese companies that are able to provide large amounts of products through official channels.
Tran Van Cong, Deputy Director of the Agro Processing and Market Development Authority, introduced to the Chinese businesspeople domestic enterprises which are eligible to export argo-forestry-aquatic products and pledged to ensure the highest standards as requested by Chinese partners.
In addition, the Chinese businesses also expressed their wish to invest in Vietnam in the fields of hi-tech application and clean, use of safe agricultural materials and clean agricultural production.
During their stay until February 23, the Chinese delegation are scheduled to work with relevant localities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Southern provinces of Tien Giang, Binh Thuan and Binh Phuoc to learn about products they want to import in the coming time.
