Vietnamese player enters world super junior tennis champ quarter-finals
Vietnamese player Nguyen Van Phuong has reached the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles at the World Super Junior Tennis Championships in Japan with his partner Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune from Denmark.
The duo will next face Takahata Kotomi and Shota Tange of the host Japan.

Phuong and his teammate beat Gaku Moriya and Tsubasa Nakazato of Japan 6-1, 6-0 in the first round and overcame Giacomo Dambrosi and Emiliano Maggioli of Italy 6-3, 7-6(3) in the second round.
In the men’s singles, Phuong, world junior No 74 and No 7 seed, beat Hiroki Sakagawa, world junior No 345, 6-1, 7-6 in the first round, but lost to Chen Dong of Australia, world No 148, 6-2, 6-2 in the next match.
After this event, Phuong will stay in Japan to compete in the Dunlop Srixon Japan Open Junior Championships scheduled to take place from October 23-28.
