Vietnam wins first-ever 3 golds at world weightlifting champs
PANO – Weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan made history by becoming the first Vietnamese to bring home three gold medals at the on-going World Weightlifting Championships in the US.

Firstly, at the men’s 56kg category of the tournament, Tuan lifted 126kg to take the gold medal in ‘snatch’.
Then, in ‘clean and jerk’, the Ho Chi Minh City-born athlete won another gold medal with his lift of 153kg.
And lastly, in ‘total lift’, the outstanding athlete went for the third gold with 279kg.
This great achievement elevated Tuan to being the first Vietnamese to pocket three golds at a world weightlifting championship.
In the previous world tournements, the best result Tuan had achieved was only a bronze medal.
The 2017 World Weightlifting Championships is taking place in Anaheim, California from November 28 to December 5.
