Vietnam targets high position at ASIAD 2018
PANO – The Vietnam Sports Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism held a ceremony to map out its tasks in 2018 in Hanoi on December 25 in the presence of its Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Thien spoke highly of the country’s sports achievements this year, especially at the 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 29).

In 2017, Vietnamese athletes bagged a total 425 gold, 301 silver, and 319 bronze medals at events held outside the country. Of which, 46 golds came from world championships, 64 golds from Asian tournaments, and the remaining from regional competitions.
Next year, the Vietnam sports sector will continue to enhance public sports training movements while focusing on improving athletes’ performance in order to gain the best results at international sports events, including the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD) in Indonesia.
On this occasion, several individuals with outstanding achievements for the development of the country’s sports sector this year received merit certificates and noble orders.
