Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2017 to open
PANO – The Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2017 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 26, the organizing panel told reporters at a press briefing on September 27.
The event will be co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh City
Department of Tourism, the city’s Athletics Federation and
Sunrise Vietnam.
Accordingly, around 6,000 Vietnamese and overseas athletes will compete in three distances,
namely the traditional, a full marathon at 42.195km, a half-marathon at 21km and a
10km races, with the starting point on Le Duan street and the finishing line in
the urban area of Empire City in District 2.
Apart from the main runs, the organizing panel will also hold
a mini-marathon for children aged from 6 to 14 on November 26, an exhibition
featuring the city’s images, as well as cultural and other sports events from
November 23 to 25. Participants may
register to join the competition online at www.marathonhcmc.com.
Addressing the press briefing, Director of the
municipal Department of Tourism, Bui Ta Hoang Vu, highlighted
that the tournament aims to encourage the spirit of sports and physical
training of the citizens, contributing to improving locals’ health and living
standards, while building healthy lifestyles and cultural environments in the
residential areas as well as popularizing the city’s images abroad.
