The Vietnamese sports delegation heading to ASIAD 19 consists of 504 members, including 337 athletes competing in 31 sports. They have set a goal of winning between 2 to 5 gold medals and strive to have several athletes qualify for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong encouraged the athletes to compete with honesty, integrity, and utmost efforts in order to achieve good results. He also emphasized the importance of building friendship and solidarity with other participating teams.

ASIAD 19 officially commences from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China. The Vietnamese sports delegation will depart for the Asian sporting event on September 20. On this occasion, the Vietnamese sports delegation has donated 100 million VND to support the victims of the recent apartment block fire in Hanoi and the flooding in Lao Cai.
