The country registered 55 gold, 41 silver and 51 bronze medals.

August 28 could be said to be a golden day for the Vietnamese weightlifting team, when both Thach Kim Tuan and Trinh Van Vinh won highest scores in the men’s 56-kg and 62kg events, respectively.

Weightlifter Vinh even broke two SEA Games records for a total lift of 307kg and snatch lift of 172 kg.

The women’s rhythmic gymnastics team and taekwondo artists added 3 silver medals, while badminton and muay brought 3 bronze medals to Vietnam stock on the day.

Host Malaysia was still on top of the tally with 109 gold, 75 silver and 69 bronze, while the figures for runner-up Thailand were 60, 72 and 74, respectively.
