Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race, an attractive race for runners at home and abroad

This year’s race gathers more than 18,000 runners, including nearly 1,300 international runners from 55 countries and territories worldwide. The figure is up 1.5-fold against that in 2023, setting a record in number of runners participating in marathon races in Vietnam.

According to the organizer, runners will officially compete on November 3 in four distance categories of 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km. 

In the race, runners will depart from Thien Quang Lake area, running through the mossy, ancient corners of Hanoi, through the roads around the West Lake, to the roads representing a dynamic, developing Hanoi in Hai Ba Trung, Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Tay Ho districts.

Attentively, runners in the 42km category will run through five famous lakes, namely Sword Lake, West Lake, Truc Bach Lake, Ngoc Khanh Lake and Thien Quang Lake.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Tri, General Director of DHA Vietnam Co., Ltd., owner and organizer of the race, said that creating a playground for more than 18,000 domestic and international athletes is really a big challenge. The organizing panel has discussed with the authorities, researched for months, with many trial runs to devise an optimal running plan that connects many heritage sites while still ensuring safety and smooth traffic in the city.
