Speaking at the event, journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, said this year’s marathon carries the theme “Welcoming the Sunrise.” The 2026 edition marks the largest scale in the event’s history, with more than 12,000 registered participants, including both professional and amateur runners. The figure reflects the growing appeal of the race after many years of development.

Athletes will compete across a range of distances, including 42.195 km and 21.1 km for men and women in both professional and mass categories; 10 km for professional men, junior men, and mass men and women; and 5 km for professional women, junior women, and mass participants of both genders.
The race will start and finish at April 2 Square in Nha Trang. Runners will take on a coastal route passing through iconic locations such as Tran Phu Bridge, Cau Da, An Vien Urban Area, and Pham Van Dong Street.
In addition to the competition, a series of activities will be held on March 28, including a flag-raising ceremony, the official opening of the race, and a tribute ceremony at the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Site in Cam Lam district. Other events include the social program “Supporting fishermen to head to the sea,” the launch of Consumer Rights Day, an art performance titled “Welcoming the Sunrise,” and a cultural, tourism, and culinary fair.
