Khmer people’s “Ngo” Boat Race through photos
PANO – Within the framework of the traditional Ok Om Bok Festival and Soc Trang “Ngo” Boat Race, the “Ngo” Boat Race of the Khmer people officially took place on November 26.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Diem Ngoc emphasized the attraction of the event. She said that in spite of being held at the provincial level, the race attracted the active participation of teams from Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, and Can Tho. Of 46 participating teams, 40 male and six female ones competed in 1,200m and 1,000m events, respectively.
Male and female winner were awarded VND 200 million and 150 million, respectively. Each participating team received a support of VND 30 million, VND 10 million higher than that of last year.
