Hundreds of athletes participate in traditional boat race
PANO - On August 5, at Bach Dang Wharf, Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the city’s Department of Tourism held the opening ceremony of the 2023 Traditional Boat Race. This water sports event is part of the activities of the first Ho Chi Minh City's Water Festival in 2023, taking place from August 4 to 6.

The championship has attracted 25 teams with 650 athletes from various departments, sectors, Thu Duc city's Sports Center, districts, and units under Ho Chi Minh City's Armed Forces, as well as from localities such as Da Nang city, An Giang, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Nghe An, and Quang Binh provinces.
The teams competed in six events, all starting simultaneously on the river in a distance of 500 meters. A large number of local residents and tourists came to observe, cheer for the competition, and enjoy remarkable water sports performances such as sailing, flyingboard, and paragliding.
