The annual award, launched in August 2008 on the 85th birthday of well-known painter Bui Xuan Phai, aims to honor authors and their paintings covering the topic of Hanoi life imbued with a love for the capital city.

For this year’s award, the jury selected over 30 authors and paintings based on the common criteria of the Bui Xuan Phai - Love for Hanoi Awards.

Accordingly, the Grand Prize went to Assoc. Prof., Dr. Nguyen Thua Hy for his contributions to Hanoi with his major research projects on Thang Long-Hanoi, laying a foundation for the Hanoi studies.

A book entitled “Mot thoi Ha Noi hat - Tim cung khong ngo lam nen loi ca” (Hanoi sings at one time - spontaneous songs) of writer Nguyen Truong Quy won the Book Prize for his unique overview of Hanoi life through music.

A Hanoi sketching group bagged the Job Prize for their works featuring Hanoi beauty with their paintings.

The organizing panel also awarded two Idea prizes to Hanoi municipal authorities and agencies for the To Lich Revival Project, and the Formula One Race complex and Formula One organization in 2020, which were implemented by the Hanoi municipal People's Committee and the VinGroup’s Vietnam Grand Prix Corporation.

During the award ceremony, a four-day exhibition of photos showcasing the best nominations of this season was also held.
