The Cong Viettel came from 2-0 down to beat Military Region Four Sara Group 3-2 to extend their gap with second placed An Giang to three points.
The Cong Viettel, who experienced a change in their managerial position with Tomaz Viczko stepping down and his Hungarian fellow Gyorgy Galhidi taking over. Mr Galhidi was seen in the stands of the Lach Tray stadium last Friday when The Cong Viettel came from behind to beat Van Hoa Haiphong 3-1.
The hosts went 1-0 down after nine minutes when Thai Binh opened the scoring for Military Region Four Sara Group.
Seventeen minutes later, the gap was extended for Military Region Four through a goal by Pete Aisekham
However, before half-time, Khanh Lam narrowed the gap as The Cong Viettel startedtheir fight back.
Eleven minutes into the second half Khanh Lam levelled the score and Ngoc Duy sealed a 3-2 victory for The Cong Viettel four minutes later.
The hosts could have earned a bigger victory if they had not squandered too many chances.
In another match, a 2-1 victory over Dong Nai sends An Giang to the second spot in the table.
An Giang are now three points behind The Cong Viettel. An Giang took a 2-0 lead in the first half through goals by Hong An and Trong Luat.
Abu Mannsaray scored for Dong Nai three minutes after the hour mark.
Quang Ninh Coal continue to slip after a 1-1 draw with struggling Quang Nam. The draw cost Quang Ninh Coal second spot. They are now four points behind The Cong Viettel.
