On November 15th, the Department for Foreign Service (VTV4), Vietnam Television, held a ceremony to receive a documentary, “Ho Chi Minh-An aspiration for peace”, from the French reporter, Dominique de Miscault.

The documentary, completed over one year, from October 2010 to 2011, is based on a book, “Je reviens au Vietnam libre” (“I return to a free Vietnam”), written by Leo Figuerre, a French reporter and a senior official of the French Communist Party. Through interviews and photos of Viet Bac in wartime, the documentary reflects the love of Ho Chi Minh for human rights as well as shows the love and the respect of international friends in general, and the French in particular, to the President. Besides, the documentary also features the feeling of Leo Figuerre about President Ho Chi Minh in the Viet Bac Base in 1950, his experiences in Vietnam and his belief in a good future of Vietnam-France relations.

Born in 1947, Dominique de Miscault spent her time studying about Uncle Ho, Vietnam and its people. She has, so far, visited Vietnam 20 times to cover news and hold photo exhibitions about President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and its people.

To complete the film, the reporter had to collect documents and photos of Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam at archives in Aix-en-Provence, Sucy, Montmorency, and Paris and in other places in France and meet with reporter Léo Figuèrre to persuade him to make the documentary and answer interviews. She also worked with Vietnamese agencies to collect and evaluate documents.
