PANO – The first volume of an historical Vietnamese comic, titled “Long Than Tuong”, has won the Silver prize at the ninth International Manga Awards hosted by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since November 2014, the comic has been published by playwright Nguyen Khanh Duong, painters Nguyen Thanh Phong and Nguyen My Anh, and historian Tran Quang Duc.

The contest has been held annually since 2007 to foster exchanges and learning of the manga genre. It is the most prestigious manga award attracting numerous works from 50 countries from all over the world.

Accordingly, painter Phong will represent the group at the award ceremony from February 23rd to March 3rd in Japan.
