The event was attended by President of Military University of Culture and Art Senior Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy, the university’s Political Commissar Senior Colonel Phung Thanh Tien, Australian Vice Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Tattersall, and Australian Defense Attaché Mick Jansen.

The performance was one of the activities in the plan on celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Australia diplomatic ties. It aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia, consolidate friendship, foster cooperation in the post-pandemic time, enhance solidarity between people of the two countries, and popularize the image of the two countries, their people, and culture.

Speaking at the opening, Senior Colonel and musician Nguyen Xuan Thuy said that the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia is developing actively in all fields. Regarding defense ties, over the past 25 years, the two defense ministries have built a sustainable and effective cooperation program that is suitable to the needs, capabilities, and interests of each country and contributes to peace and stability in the region and the world.

An art performance during the event

The event opened up opportunities for bilateral defense cooperation in the field of culture and art. It was also a special cooperation content contributing to enhancing the friendship and mutual understanding between the two militaries, thus strengthening the Vietnam - Australia strategic partnership in general and the bilateral defense ties in particular.

The university’s president believed that through the exchange, military music bands of the two sides would learn more skills and experience in training and performing from each other. The event was a chance for the two bands to rehearse and make preparations for the performance at the banquet to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries to be held by the Australian Embassy with the participation of senior leaders. 

At the event, 12 artists from Australian Army Band played different instrument, such as trumpet, drums, saxophone, guitar, trombone, keyboard, bass, while 24 Vietnamese artists from the music band of the Military University of Culture and Art had three performances. The two bands also co-performed.

Within the framework of the performance, students of the Military University of Culture and Art had exchange with members of the Australian band.
