The ceremony was part of a series of activities in celebration of the Vietnam Theater Day (August 12 on the lunar calendar).

During the ceremony

Addressing the ceremony, People’s Artist Le Tien Tho, Head of the Vietnam Stage Artists’ Association, emphasized that the time period of 60 years was a landmark for the stage sector and stage artists and a bright point for stage artists of present and future generations.

Tho noted that the Association is always home to kind-hearted and creative people who respect and are grateful to their ancestors.

In his speech, Deputy-Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam recognized and lauded great contributions of stage artists nationwide, and the association of different generations, to the nation over the past six decades.

Deputy-PM Dam laid stress on the Vietnam stage sector’s difficulties and challenges and reminded the sector to deal with shortcomings in human resources, composition, performance and management and to pay due attention to improving the living standards of stage artists as well as upgrading theaters and other performing facilities.

The Deputy-PM also emphasized human resources training and stage development programs for ethnic minority groups.

At the ceremony, the organizing panel presented the insignia “For stage career” to a number of artists while audiences were entertained with circus acts, excerpts of cheo (popular opera), tuong (classical drama) and puppetry.
