Vietnam Minority Ethnic Groups’ Culture Day to open
PANO - As many as 50 patriarchs, artisans and people from minority ethnic groups nationwide, including the Muong (Hoa Binh), Thai (Nghe An), Kho Mu (Dien Bien), Tay (Thai Nguyen), E De (Dak Lak), Ta Oi (Thua Thien-Hue), Khmer (Soc Trang) and more, will join the Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day from April 19 to 23 at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.

The culture day aims to promote the traditional culture of Vietnamese minority ethnic groups among domestic and foreign tourists.
The opening ceremony will feature an art performance, titled “Melody from the forests”, reflecting Vietnamese minority ethnic groups’ cultural features, with the participation of ethnic artisans and artists.
A wide range of activities such as an exhibition and performance program entitled “Bamboo in Vietnamese national music”, traditional festivals of minority ethnic groups, rituals, traditional folk games like tug-of-war, will be held.
During the event, the organizing panel will revive the ancestor worshiping ceremony of the Lo Lo minorities in Ha Giang province, which has been recognized as national intangible cultural heritage.
The tug-of-war rituals and the tug-of-war folk game itself will also be organized during the event. The practice of the rituals and the game Vietnam, which is also seen in Cambodia, the Republic of Korea, and the Philippines to pray for good weather, good crops, and prosperity, has also been recognized as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
