Vietnam Buddhist Sangha ready for Vesak Day 2019
PANO – The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha announced on April 18 at a press conference that it is ready for the celebration of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019 hosted by Vietnam from May 12 – 14 at Tam Chuc Buddhist Center (Kim Bang district, Ha Nam province).
Themed “Buddhist approach to global leadership and shared responsibilities for sustainable societies,” the Vesak Day 2019 is an important foreign relation activity for Vietnam, helping the country heighten the position of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the international arena and affirm its role and responsibility towards activities of the United Nations.
During the celebration, a number of activities will be held, including lantern floating ceremony praying for peace to the world, a photo exhibition of heritage pagodas in the world and in Vietnam, an exhibition displaying Buddhist antiques, and more.
