The trees include seven three-leaf pine trees and two Cassia tora L. trees on the campus of Regiment 726, which has close attachment to So Tra relic, a French architecture work with unique design in Dak Nong and Central Highlands, four three-leaf pine trees at the forest protection check-point next to a memorial stele house dedicated to 66 fallen troops - one of the historical sites in Quang Truc witnessing Battalion 840 - Southwestern region’s attack on Bu Prang - Phuoc Long post on December 26, 1965, and six Dacrycarpus imbricatus trees, and one Pterocarpus macrocarpus Kurz tree at Thac Mo Protection Forest Management Board.

The stone stele of Vietnam’s heritage tree inaugurated

The recognition of Vietnam heritage trees is meant to protect the local natural scenery, ecosystem and rare genetic resources. It also helps promote the dissemination to raise the community’s awareness of and responsibility for protecting the nature, environment, and responding to climate change.

Earlier, a population of 36 Lagerstroemia speciosa trees and one banyan tree under the management of the South Central Highlands Forestry One-member Ltd., Co. in Tuy Duc district was recognized as Vietnam heritage trees.
