Sixth Vietnam International Book Fair and Exhibition 2017 starts
PANO - The sixth Vietnam International Book Fair and Exhibition 2017 opened on August 23 at the Unification Park in Hanoi hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
At the fair and exhibition
As many as 66 participating units displayed nearly 40,000 book titles at more than 80 pavilions.
Publications are showcased in different theme topics, such as seas and islands, ASEAN, State and Ho Chi Minh prizes.
In the framework of the event, over 20 other activities are organized in the conference hall, on outdoor stages and at pavilions.
Addressing the opening ceremony, MIC’s Minister Truong Minh Tuan emphasized that the Vietnam publishing sector has actively exchanged and boosted cooperation on copyrights with foreign partners and gradually had access to modern publishing technology.
Tuan also hoped that the fair and exhibition would be a reliable place for more domestic and foreign readers and publishers and for further partnership between Vietnamese and foreign publishers.
Such fairs and exhibitions have been organized biennially by the MIC.
This year’s event is among practical activities to mark the APEC Vietnam 2017, the 40th anniversary of Vietnam’s United Nations membership, the 10th anniversary of Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) as well as the 65th founding anniversary of the publishing-printing and distribution sector.
