Every five to 10 years, local witch-doctors repeat this ritual to pray for health and peace for themselves, and good health, good weather and bumper crops for their villagers.

In 2020, this ritual was recognized as an element of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
