A performance at the event

The event was also to mark the 45
years of the victory of the armed forces and people of Vietnam over “Operation
Linebacker II”, or Christmas bombing campaign, of the US Air Force (the “Hanoi
- Dien Bien Phu in the Air” campaign) and honor the 73 years of the building,
combat and development of the VPA as well as its glorious feats-of-arms.
Performances at the program told the story of the VPA, starting from the establishment of the Vietnam Armed Propaganda Team, the forerunner of the VPA, to the final victory of the VPA and the Vietnamese people over invaders in 1975. As the story went, 73 years ago, on December
22, 1944, the Vietnam Armed Propaganda Team was
established in Nguyen Binh district of Cao Bang province, comprising 34
combatants. Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the
VPA made various glorious victories over invaders then, serving as the core
force in the August Revolution in 1945, bringing independence to the country.
In the resistance wars and national
construction cause later, the VPA has always emphasized the spirit of
“resolutely advancing forwards”, “using small forces to vanquish much stronger
enemies” under the spirit of “ready to die for the Fatherland” and conducting
combat and force building at the same time. The Uncle Ho’s soldiers then combined
traditional military values of the nation and those of the world to create a
new turning point in Vietnamese military art, successfully fighting for the
liberation of the South and national reunification.
The highlight of the program was the
reappearance of the glorious combat of the armed forces and people of Hanoi
during the 12 days and nights of the “Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the Air”
campaign in late December 1972. The devastating bombing of the US Air Force failed
to bend the willpower of the Vietnamese people and victory finally came to the
nation.
The program concluded, contributing
to evoking the national pride, patriotism, self-resilience in promoting
emulation movement, generating momentum for the successful implementation of
the 12th Party National Congress’s Resolution. The program also encouraged
younger generations to make contribution to the cause of national building and
safeguarding.
