Olympic Vietnam to compete at Grand Royal Challenge Cup

Vietnam’s Olympics squad left Vietnam for Myanmar to take part in the Grand Royal Challenge Cup 2008 from November 9^th to 11^th.

According to Coach Mai Duc Chung, young Vietnamese footballers will try their best at the upcoming tournament, particularly in matches with Malaysia’s Olympic team on November 12^th and with South Korea’s Hyundai team on November 14^th.

Earlier, the Vietnamese team had a goalless draw match against the powerful Hai Phong Cement team, which finished in the third place of the V - League in the 2007 – 2008 season.

Alfred Riedl, former coach of the National Vietnamese team, and now manager of the Hai Phong Cement team, spoke highly of the Olympic players.

After the upcoming tournament, several players will be called up to join the national team for the Suzuki Cup 2008.
