PANO – The General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Football Federation held a get-together on May 30th to commend and award the national women’s football team for advancing to the final round of the Asian Cup 2014 Tournament.
Delivering a speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai highly appreciated the outstanding achievement by the national women's team players and urged the General Department of Sports and Physical Training to continue to support the team in the future, especially from now to the end of the Asian Cup 2014.
Led by Head Coach Chen Yun Fat, the Vietnamese women trounced three rivals of Bahrain (8-0), Kyrgyzstan (12-0) and Hong Kong (4-0) to top the group C in the Asian Cup 2014’s qualifying round and officially advanced to the final round.
Along with good preparation and performances at the Asian Cup 2014’s qualifiers, Vietnam is facing some difficulties, including the absences of Chuong Thi Kieu and Nguyen Thi Nguyet due to injuries, said Coach Fat.
In the coming time, the team will attempt to take on matches at the Asian Cup 2014’s final round in order to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada, added Fat.
Previously, the Asia Football Association (AFF) sent a congratulation letter to Vietnam for being chosen to host the final round of the 2014 Women’s Asian Cup.
