Hue Craft Village Festival 2017 kicks off
The 7th Hue Trade Village Festival 2017 kicked off on April 28 in Hue city of central Thua Thien-Hue province, drawing 327 artisans from 40 craft villages and establishments across the country.

Along with famous craft villages nationwide such as Nam Cao weaving village in Thai Binh province and My Thien pottery village in Quang Ngai province, the event also saw the participation of 34 foreign artisans from Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China.
In his opening speech, Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh said the festival aims to honor the quintessence values of traditional crafts, while fostering connections between businesses and investors, and socio-economic development and incorporating handicrafts with tourism as well as domestic and foreign markets.
Running until May 2, the festival will have various programs, including a space for honoring artisans and craft villages, a garment fashion show, an “Ao dai” (traditional long dress) show, and a ceremony to pay tribute to ancestors of traditional crafts.
A number of public activities will also be held such as a food festival introducing specialties of Hue and other localities nationwide.
