Fourteen ethnic minority groups to join “Reunion Spring” program
PANO – Around 100 ethnic minority people will participate in the “Reunion Spring” program held in January by the Management Board of the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Son Tay town, Hanoi.
Accordingly, participants from the H’mong in Ha Giang province, the Kho Mu in Dien Bien province, the Thai in Son La province, the Tay in Thai Nguyen province and artists from the Vietnam Tuong (Classical Drama) and Cheo (Popular Opera) Theatres will introduce special rituals, festivals and cultural practices of ethnic people on the first days of a new year.
The highlight of the program is a ritual of the Nung people in Lang Son province. Held on the first day of a new year, the long-standing practice bearing special spiritual values aims to free people from bad luck and pray for a safe and happy year.

Another special cultural activity is Then singing which has been the pride of the Tay and Nung ethnic minority groups.
Meanwhile, artists from the Vietnam Tuong and Cheo Theatres will entertain visitors with performances praising the Party, nation, spring and New Year.
People also have a chance to taste specialties of ethnic minority groups, including steamed glutinous rice, chicken with bamboo shoots and grilled fish, enjoy folk art genres, namely Xoe dancing, bamboo dancing, Vi singing, among others and learn more about cultural practices of ethnic minority groups in the Lunar New Year festival through 40 displayed photos.
These interesting activities aim to popularize traditional cultural values as well as to promote solidarity among ethnic minority groups for their development in 2019.
