Exhibition celebrates Hanoi’s Liberation Day
PANO – An exhibition, entitled “Hanoi: Historic Moments in October 1954,” featuring photos and documents of the glorious moments of Hanoi on the Liberation Day (October 10, 1954), opened at Thang Long Imperial Citadel on October 3.
The month-long exhibition consists of three parts: the arrival of the Vietnamese military in the capital city, the flag salute ceremony to celebrate Hanoi’s victory on October 10, 1954, and memories of people on the historic day.

During the exhibition, various stories are told by Capital Regiment veterans and Hanoi’s residents who witnessed the victorious moment. Former head of the liaison board of the Capital Regiment, Senior Colonel Nguyen Trong Ham, Composer Nguyen Van Quy, and well-known historians Le Van Lan and Duong Trung Quoc are among those who will tell the stories.
During the event, historian Duong Trung Quoc will recall the exciting atmosphere in every corner of the capital on October 10 over six decades ago when many local families made flags themselves to welcome the Vietnamese troops.
