PANO – The Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh won a slot to the 2016 Olympics. The news was announced by BWF on May 5th.

This is the third consecutive time the player has won a slot to the Olympic Games. This may be his last chance to compete in the games.

In the woman’s rankings, badminton player Vu Thi Trang also landed on a place to attend the 2016 Olympics.

To date, Vietnam has won 18 slots to the games. The Vietnamese athletes competing in the Rio Olympics include the two above-mentioned badminton players, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien (swimming), Hoang Xuan Vinh and Tran Quoc Cuong (shooting), Phan Thi Ha Thanh and Pham Phuoc Hung (gymnastics), Vu Thanh An, Nguyen Thi Le Dung, Nguyen Thi Nhu Hoa (fencing), Nguyen Thi Lua, Vu Thi Hang (wrestling), Nguyen Thanh Ngung (athletics), plus, one rowing athlete and four additional male and female athletes (weightlifting).
