Vietnam - Cambodia border gates opens to traffic
PANO - Vietnam and Cambodia, on July 19, held a ceremony to open to traffic the pair of international border gates at Le Thanh in Vietnam’s Gia Lai province and Oyadav in the neighboring Cambodian province of Ratanakiri.
The ceremony, part of the activities to celebrate 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia (June 24, 1967), was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, and his Cambodian counterpart Ke Kim Ya.

According to the Road Transportation Agreement between the two countries, 500 vehicles of each side are permitted to travel through the seven pairs of international border gates, including the Le Thanh – Oyadav border gates.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung lauded efforts of relevant units of both sides to facilitate vehicles’ traveling between the two border gates under agreements between Vietnam and Cambodia.
This has also marked a new period of socio-economic development and cultural exchange for the two countries and will contribute to turning the shared border into an area of peace and cooperation, he added.
He also urged the two governments to work closely in facilitating and managing transportation through the border areas to ensure safety and security, contributing to the further development of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between two countries.
For his part, Cambodian Deputy PM Ke Kim Ya highly valued the results of the two countries’ economic, political, cultural and social cooperation. The opening of the pair of border gates to traffic will contribute to promoting transportation and trade across the two countries' border, He also considered that the opening of the border gates would help facilitate socio-economic development of both sides and exploit potential of each country and especially create a motivation for sustainable development while consolidating the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
