PANO - Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Sinh Hung received a delegation from the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) and partner countries, led by CAJ Chairman and Deputy Head of the Philippine National Press Club Benny Antiporda on November 26th in Hanoi.
The host and 30 international guests reviewed three press targets set by the CAJ, including promoting free and responsible journalism, increasing mutual understanding among people of ASEAN member nations for prosperity and equality, and reflecting ASEAN member states’ aspiration, sentiment and concerns to help them further understand each other.
On behalf of the CAJ, Mr. Antiporda thanked the host for his warm reception and hospitability. He also expressed his optimism about the success of the 18th General Assembly of the CAJ and the confederation’s 40th founding anniversary hosted by the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) in Hanoi on November 27th.
The Philippine journalist believed that the VJA, as the chairman of the next term, would continue following the confederation’s goals and build the CAJ as one of the strongest and prestigious press organizations in the region and the rest of the world.
Speaking highly of the CAJ’s visit to Vietnam, its tour around the NA House and its observation of the 10th session of the 13th NA, the host informed that their visit was made at the time the NA was discussing the Press Law and that the Vietnamese press has been developing and making important contributions to the national construction and protection cause.
The host also asked the guests to continue to discuss and implement the CAJ’s goals and principles to boost the noble solidarity among ASEAN member nations and ASEAN’s contributions to the international community, as well as to contribute to conveying the voice of the people to ASEAN’s and other world leaders to ensure the peace, security and solidarity of each country, and for a prosperous ASEAN Community.
He hoped that they could raise their voices to contribute to their countries and to the solidarity of the ASEAN Community so as to create a joint strength of the CAJ and a close link among countries from all over the world.
Emphasizing the historic time and the great significance of the formation of the ASEAN Community later this year with the three key pillars of the Political-Security Community, the Economic Community and the Socio-Cultural Community, the host hoped that the CAJ, via its activities, would help promote solidarity and friendship, better its connective role and boost mutual understanding among ASEAN member states, as well as further introduce the images and people of the ASEAN Community’s members to the world.
