Front view of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Solidarity Statue Cluster

The statue cluster features five figures symbolizing the combat solidarity between the armed forces and people of the two countries during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists, reflecting their shared mission of opening the Truong Son – Ho Chi Minh Trail to transport weapons and supplies in support of the southern theater of Vietnam.

The top section displays the national flags of Vietnam and Laos. At the center are Lao and Vietnamese soldiers standing shoulder to shoulder, expressing determination and unity as they clasp hands in celebration of victory along the Truong Son mountain range. Behind them are three additional figures: a Lao conscripted laborer carrying ammunition; a Vietnamese engineering soldier working on the Truong Son Trail; and a Lao female guerrilla representing the women’s forces, armed and ready to fight while providing logistical support in food and ammunition. The background depicts a mountainous landscape symbolizing the majestic Truong Son range and the Plain of Jars, commemorating the heroic achievements of the Vietnamese and Lao people.

The statue cluster stands 4.3 meters tall; the figures are each 2.3 meters high. The structure measures 2.95 meters in width and 2.85 meters in depth, cast entirely in bronze with a total weight of approximately 11 tons.

According to the Art Council, the statue cluster possesses balanced proportions, artistic value, and refined craftsmanship. The forms, details, and expressions of each figure have been meticulously reviewed and refined to ensure harmony within the overall composition. The Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Solidarity Statue Cluster represents the deep gratitude and respect of the Vietnamese people for the contributions of the Lao military and civilians, further strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
