It can be affirmed that in today’s world, few bilateral relationships are as profound, exceptional, and enduring as the one between Vietnam and Laos. Every achievement of the two countries’ revolutions over the decades has been closely linked to the development of this special bond. Having withstood the harsh trials of war and the challenges of reform and integration, the Vietnam - Laos relationship has evolved into an objective rule, a vital strategic factor, and a foundation for the two countries to carry forward in subsequent historical periods.

More than 60 years after the establishment of diplomatic ties, Vietnam and Laos continue to build upon the tradition of their special solidarity, constantly striving to elevate their relationship to new strategic heights. In recent years, political cooperation and strategic trust between the two nations have been further strengthened, reaffirming their pivotal and guiding role in overall bilateral relations. The two sides have promoted existing cooperation mechanisms while reviewing and adjusting them to better reflect current realities.

Notably, through meetings and exchanges between the two General Secretaries and senior leaders of the two Parties and States, key issues have been discussed extensively, comprehensively, and substantively; major cooperation projects have been resolved definitively, creating momentum for robust progress and deeper linkages between the two Parties and the two nations.

Alongside bilateral advancement, trilateral cooperation among Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia has also been reinforced with the successful meeting of the top leaders of the three parties in February this year standing out, during which high consensus on long-term development orientations was achieved and shared understanding of the inseparable destinies of the three countries was strengthened.

At the same time, cooperation in defense, security, and external relations continues to deepen and yield tangible results, deserving its status as a key pillar in Vietnam - Laos relations. Economic, cultural, educational, and scientific-technical cooperation has also recorded positive progress. Collaboration between the two countries’ Party commissions, ministries, sectors, National Assembly bodies, Fatherland Fronts, organizations, and localities continues to be enhanced in an increasingly substantive manner

In that context, the visit of Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, as well as the working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, represent major political events and are important milestones in the bilateral relations, imbued with warm sentiment, camaraderie, and brotherhood. These visits reaffirm Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy of always treasuring and giving the highest priority to the  great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, which was founded by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong, and is nurtured through the sweat, devotion, and sacrifice of generations of both countries. They also underscore the determination to establish a new vision, elevate bilateral ties to a new high, create breakthroughs, and promote substantive, sustainable, and long-term cooperation and development.

In the jubilant spirit of the 50th National Day of Laos (December 2, 1975 - 2025), the visit of Party chief To Lam, his spouse and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, along with that of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, are believed to achieve outstanding success, helping further elevating bilateral relations and shaping a comprehensive and effective cooperation framework for the new development phase. These events vividly and profoundly embody the rare, pure, faithful, and enduring solidarity between the two Parties and the two nations.
