The opening ceremony will be held on the afternoon of December 2 at the Lao National Cultural Hall. The six films will be screened at two venues, namely the Lao National Cultural Hall and Patuxay Square.
Opening the event is the documentary “President Kaysone Phomvihane and Vietnam,” produced by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio. The film portrays the life and career of President Kaysone Phomvihane and his profound bond with Vietnam.

Among the featured works is the feature film “Red Rain” by the People’s Army Cinema, directed by Dang Thai Huyen, adapted from a novel by writer Chu Lai, set against the backdrop of the 81-day-and-night defense of Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.
The film “Two mothers,” produced by the Vietnam Feature Film Studio and directed by Nguyen Khac Loi, tells a story of friendship and sacrifice between the peoples of Vietnam and Laos during the Indochina War.
The film “Hijacked,” produced by the People’s Public Security Cinema in collaboration with Thien Ngan Film Joint Stock Company and directed by Ham Tran, recreates the hijacking incident of flight HVN-137 in 1977.
The film “Tunnels – Sun in the dark,” produced by Hoan Khue Film Production Joint Stock Company and directed by Bui Thac Chuyen, depicts a guerrilla unit based in Binh An Dong in 1967 during Operation Cedar Falls.
The film “Yellow flowers on green grass,” commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and produced by Thien Ngan Film Joint Stock Company, directed by Victor Vu, delivers a touching story of childhood, brotherhood, and the rural memories of the Central Vietnam in the late 1980s.
The Vietnam Film Week in Laos 2025 is expected to bring audiences cinematic works rich in artistic value, reflecting the historical depth, culture, and people of Vietnam, helping Lao audiences gain deeper insights into the country and its people.
Within the framework of the program, audiences will also have opportunities to interact with filmmakers in several post-screening discussions.
