Laos’s daily COVID-19 cases exceed 1,000
The Lao Ministry of Health on December 29 reported 1,042 new infections of COVID-19 in 18 provinces and cities over the past 24 hours.
The number was 80 higher than the figure on the previous day and brought the country’s total caseload to 108,782.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths recorded during the 24 hours was 13, pushing the death toll to 355. The capital city of Vientiane continued to log the highest number of domestic infections nationwide, at 417.
Given such context, the ministry recommended local people to get booster shots against coronavirus.
Laos has received more than 320,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and freezing equipment to preserve them, which were donated by Japan and worth more than 913,000 USD.
