ASEAN-EU Senior Officials Meeting opens in Thailand
The 24th Senior Officials Meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union (EU) started in Bangkok, Thailand on July 5.
The meeting was attended by 40 delegations from ASEAN and EU members, along with the European External Action Service and the ASEAN Secretariat. Vietnam’s delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung.

The event aimed to bolster ASEAN-EU cooperation, as well as celebrate the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, with Thailand being the current coordinator.
Participants will evaluate progress of ASEAN-EU cooperation in accordance with the Bandar Seri Begawan Action Plan (2013-2017) and discuss the next plan in 2018-2022.
Through the meeting, ASEAN and EU relations are hoped to be enhanced in various fields such as trade, sustainable development, climate change, people-to-people exchange and security.
Besides, delegates will discuss preparations for the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) with EU in Manila next month and activities to mark the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations.
