PANO – The ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Retreat (ADMM Retreat) opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 3rd.

A high-ranking Vietnamese military mission, led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Minister of National Defence, participated in the event.

The delegation also includes Major General Vu Tien Trong, Head of the Institute for Defence International Relations; Senior Colonel Nguyen Dai Hoi, Deputy Director of the External Relations Department under the Ministry of National Defence; and Senior Colonel Bui Quoc Oai, Deputy Chief of the Defence Ministry Office.

During the meeting, heads of missions from ASEAN member states and ASEAN Secretary-General Le Luong Minh discussed defence cooperation within the ADMM and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+), as well as exchanged views on regional situations of mutual concern.

In addition, they signed a contract with suppliers to establish a hotline between ASEAN Defence Ministers.

On November 4th, the third ADMM+ will see the participation of Defence Ministers and representatives of Defence Ministers from ASEAN member countries and dialogue partners of Australia, New Zealand, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, India, the USA and Russia.
