According to Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, since 2013, the SCOV and the Naval Command have brought over 500 OVs to visit Truong Sa island district and the DK1 platforms.

Mr. Vu highlighted these visits which have helped confirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and give OVs chances to exchange with their compatriots at home, thus enhancing the great national unity bloc.

During the visits, OVs have donated nearly VND 1.3 billion in both kind and cash to assist Truong Sa troops and islanders in reducing their difficulties.

Receiving the donations from OVs, Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Naval Service, thanked the expats for their sentiments and practical contribution in both spiritual and material terms for Truong Sa troops and islanders.

During the visit from April 18-23, OVs explored the daily life of troops, visited and presented gifts to both troops and islanders, joined flag-saluting ceremony with local troops and people, offering incense to heroic martyrs, President Ho Chi Minh, General Tran Hung Dao, participated in a requiem for war martyrs and fallen fishermen at Truong Sa Pagoda, to name but a few.
