The exhibition showcased nearly 200 documents, artifacts, publications, and maps, which have been preserved at the Vietnam National Archives Center, Vietnam Military History Museum, and Naval Museum, as well as items collected by archives facilities and libraries from the U.S. and France.

Cutting the ribbon to kick off the exhibition

The exhibits show that the Vietnamese state from the feudal period to the present has explored, established, exercised, and protected national sovereignty over the two island districts of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa and many other waters and islands belonging to Vietnam's territory. They also highlight the high determination of Vietnamese people and troops in protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands.

Especially, the exhibition introduced the royal archives of the Nguyen Dynasty that directly dealt with the exploitation, management, establishment, and enforcement of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two island districts.

Deputy Director of the State Records and Archives Management Department Nguyen Thi Nga and Political Commissar of the Naval Region 5 Command Rear Admiral Nguyen Huu Thoan underlined that the exhibition offered a good chance for local residents and soldiers to access knowledge, historical legal evidence, and valuable documents about the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa islands, thus promoting the love for the homeland, raising their responsibility of the national building and defense cause.
