The event is part of activities to promote the values and meanings of the exhibition "Vietnam's sea and islands: Beautiful and peaceful" co-organized by the museum and the Photography Editing Board under the Photography Centre of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) from December 11th 2015 to April 11 2016. Nearly 200 photos on display at the exhibition had drawn the participation of over 200,000 foreign and 40,000 Vietnamese visitors.
The event aims to encourage youths to show their determination to protect the fatherland's sovereignty over sea and islands
At the exchange, war veterans and 100 youths sang along songs about Vietnam's sea and islands such as "Bach Dang giang" (Bach Dang River,) "Tinh em bien ca" (Sea is Your Love), to name but a few.
