Still a proud outpost at the Fatherland’s southernmost tip, Hon Khoai is evolving beyond its rugged landscape. Recent changes reveal major infrastructure projects emerging between sea and sky. It is an island awakening - shimmering with light, faith, and aspiration.

Rising 318 meters above sea level at Vietnam’s southwestern maritime gateway, Hon Khoai sits adjacent to vital international shipping routes. Long a strategic "eye of the sea" closed to the public, the island is now awakening. The construction of a sea-crossing route and a dual-use general seaport marks a new development phase, signaled by concrete pillars rising from the water. Unlike previous visits, the island now hums with activity, featuring material depots, worker housing, and constant vehicle convoys. Despite the harsh sun and wind, workers, of whom some spending their first Tet away from home, express pride in contributing to this project of national strategic significance.

Nguyen Van Chau, Deputy General Director of DACINCO Construction Investment Co., Ltd., stated, "This port is not merely a place for ships to dock. It is a gateway for Hon Khoai to reach the open sea." Once completed, the project will bridge the island's remoteness, fostering trade and new opportunities. Despite harsh maritime conditions, workers remain determined to finish early, honoring the trust placed in this strategic outpost.
The construction site now hums with activity as cranes, barges, and workers move in practiced coordination. The mechanical rhythm blends with the sea, signaling a new era for Hon Khoai. This transformation recalls the joy of the groundbreaking ceremony, where Dat Mui resident Tran Van Minh remarked, “Ca Mau being far away, that’s old news now! Soon there will be expressways, a bridge to the island, and a seaport. We are truly happy.”
Building at sea remains a challenge of endurance against storms and waves. Beyond technical expertise, those pioneering here are driven by an "iron will" and a deep sense of national responsibility.

During a working visit to Hon Khoai Island, General Secretary To Lam described the project as a national pledge reflecting Vietnam’s self-reliance and maritime aspirations. "Every hour of labor safeguards sovereignty," he affirmed. Senior Colonel Le Xuan Long, Director of Project Management Board 166, added that the bridge symbolizes the resolve to conquer the sea and ensure sustainable development, vowing to make every structure an enduring mark of trust. More than a transport link, Hon Khoai is ready to connect the mainland with the ocean, proving the nation’s southernmost point is not an end, but a beginning for great journeys.
