On the sidelines of SATTE 2018, Director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Tourism Department Bui Ta Hoang Vu met with Joint Secretary of India’s Ministry of Tourism Suman Billa.
Vu briefed his host on the city’s tourism development policies, noting that the city is focusing on improving its services to meet the demands of Indian tourists.
He expressed hope that tourism management agencies of the two countries as well as Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi will create optimal conditions for people of both sides to travel to each other’s country.
Vu revealed that Vietnam is working to soon open a direct air route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi. He also invited Indian travel firms to attend the international tourism fair to be held in Ho Chi Minh City.
For his part, Billa noted that Vietnam and India have enjoyed sound ties, expressing hope that more Vietnamese people will visit India. He stressed the need for a direct air route between the two countries, which he believes that will make significant contributions to increasing the number of tourists travelling between Vietnam and India.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed about 50,000 Indian tourists in 2017.
