Ensuring the most supportive environment for special passengers at Noi Bai International Airport |
More than 100 million people worldwide are affected by sensory sensitivities. The noisy, crowded airport environment can be overwhelming, discouraging many families from traveling, especially by air, where procedures are strict and complex.
The program is jointly implemented by Noi Bai International Airport, Emirates Airline of the United Arab Emirates, the Immigration Police at Noi Bai International Airport, and Hanoi Ground Services Joint Stock Company (HGS). It aims to help children overcome fear and become familiar with the flying process.

Noi Bai International Airport continues to invest in specialized infrastructure to ensure equal access to services for all passengers. |
To create a calm and supportive setting, the airport schedules activities during off-peak hours. Despite high traffic at Terminal T2, the staff at the contact points coordinate closely to provide a slower, more patient experience. This approach ensures both procedural safety and a supportive environment, helping participants build confidence.
Children are guided through key steps, including reading information boards and understanding boarding passes at the check-in counter, as well as completing security and immigration procedures. Potentially stressful processes, such as body scanning and security screening, are clearly and gently explained to reduce anxiety.
Inside the aircraft cabin, a quiet atmosphere and attentive crew help ease concerns. Familiarity with seating and onboard sounds further reduces sensory triggers.

The airport works closely with airlines and relevant units to thoroughly prepare for the experiential program. |
In parallel, the airport continues to enhance specialized infrastructure. Priority lanes and check-in counters help reduce waiting times. Dedicated restrooms are equipped with handrails, wheelchair space, and emergency call systems. Additional features include priority seating, dual-height drinking water stations, and sign language guidance for hearing-impaired passengers. Inter-terminal travel is facilitated by electric shuttle buses with wheelchair-accessible ramps.
