The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has poured more than US $20 million into the second phase of the sustainable tourism development project in the five provinces of Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Binh, Bac Kan and Cao Bang in five years 2008-2013.

According to Nguyen Huy, the director of the project in Quang Tri province, the project has seen positive results in An Giang and Kien Giang provinces.

In the second phase, Quang Tri province is will receive US $1.698 million of which US $425,000 is for hunger elimination and poverty reduction while US $1.211 million is for tourism development in East-West economic corridor.

Besides, ADB also gave US $1.7 million to Quang Tri province to develop infrastructure in the Cua Viet-Cua Tung marine-ecosystem sustainable tourism project.

Greater Mekong Sub-region sustainable tourism development project is part of the framework of a joint development strategy implemented in six Greater Mekong Sub-regions sponsored by the ADB, mostly in Vietnam and Lao. The project aims to bring into play the advantages of the East-West corridor and their natural resources, trade and tourism potential.
