Tsunami early-warning posts will be built in 13 coastal cities and provinces from Ha Tinh to Ba Ria-Vung Tau in the period of 2012-2016, according to the Project to Build a Tsunami Early-Warning System.
The Deputy-Prime Minister, Hoang Trung Hai, has just signed the Project and agreed that tsunami early-warning posts should first be erected in the tsunami-prone localities.
Under the Project, a tsunami information network from the Global Physics Institute to Central steering agencies, local calamity rescue organisations, local authorities and people will be set up in addition to the building of tsunami early warning posts.
The information network ensures that warnings of tsunami be reached the targets in the shortest time.
The Project also said that the Global Physics Institute is mainly in charge of observing and analysing tsunami information and is the sheer organisation to issue tsunami warnings when tsunami could possibly affect Vietnamese costal localities.
