Twelve distressed fishermen saved at sea
PANO – Twelve distressed fishermen who found themselves in difficulties were rescued near Phu Quy island district, Binh Thuan province.
Earlier, the trawler, captained by Tran Ngoc Thang, went adrift near Phu Quy Island. After receiving the information, the Ngu Phung commune People’s Committee (Phu Quy district) asked two trawlers of fishermen Nguyen Van Khung and Tran Dong to initiate a search and rescue mission. Later, at approximately 12:30 that same day, Tran Dong’s trawler, with 12 fishermen on board, was in serious trouble and finally, sank at sea.
Immediately, a ship of the Vietnam Coast Guard, Nguyen Van Khung’s trawler and some other fishing boats near the scene cooperated to locate the distressed fishermen, and, at approximately 18:00, all fishermen were successfully saved.
