PANO – Ship SAR-274 of the Region II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Danang MRCC) safely brought a foreign sailor in distress ashore on June 2nd.

Earlier, at 11pm of the previous day, a 58-year-old Indian sailor Chatterjee Tuhindra Nath on Liberian-flagged container ship HANJIN CALIFORNIA suffered a serious heart attack while it was 160 nautical miles off Da Nang city, on the way from China to Singapore.

After receiving the mayday, the centre sent ship SAR-274 to the scene and brought the troubled patient to a hospital on the Vietnamese mainland for treatment.
