Timely rescue for stricken fisherman at sea
PANO – On May 12, Son Tra Border Post under the Da Nang Municipal Border Guard Command coordinated with the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 2 to receive and transfer fisherman Pham Mai, born in 1970, residing in Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province, who suffered from a medical problem at sea, to Da Nang Hospital for emergency treatment.
Pham Mai was a crew-member aboard fishing vessel QNg 95392 TS captained by Pham Suu, also from Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province. While operating at sea, Mai suddenly experienced serious health problems, including dizziness, loss of consciousness and suspected stroke symptoms with partial paralysis. The vessel immediately sent out a distress signal requesting assistance from the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 2 (Da Nang MRCC).

At 2:51 p.m. on May 11, vessel SAR 631 departed for the rescue mission. At 3:24 a.m. on May 12, the SAR 631 reached fishing vessel QNg 95392 TS, provided first aid to the patient and urgently transported him ashore.

At 4:30 p.m. on May 12, SAR 631 docked at the port. At that time, the patient remained semi-conscious, responded slowly and was unable to speak. He was then transferred by ambulance to Da Nang Hospital for emergency treatment.
