Speaking at the event, Permanent Deputy PM Binh hoped the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee would continue to organize more practical and effective volunteer programs, and boost information dissemination during and after the campaign. Furthermore, Youth Unions organizations at all levels should build and multiply good youth models in socio-economic development, and take effective measures against child drowning and child abuse and violence.
At the ceremony, the organizing panel presented 20 gifts to policy households, 20 bicycles to needy children, several youth works worth nearly VND 3 billion to Bac Kan province, and VND 2 billion in cash to help local youths do their business.
The campaign, running from June to August, includes programs: Mua He Xanh (Green Summer), Hoa Phuong Do (Flamboyant Flower), Tiep Suc Mua Thi (assistance for candidates in the national high school graduation examination), Ky nghi hong (Pink Vacation) and Hanh quan xanh (young soldiers join social voluntary works).
These programs will target 93 poor and near-poor districts across the country and 431 disadvantaged communes and districts along the Ho Chi Minh National Highway and the neighboring countries of Laos and Cambodia.
In addition, young volunteers across Vietnam participating in the campaign have also planned to repair and build about 4,300km of road, carry out coastal clean-up drives at 400 locations and plant at least 2.5 million trees.
They will also take part in a number of social activities such as offering free health checkups and medicines to 500,000 people, building 150 gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries and 500 playgrounds for children during the summer.
