Students compete for second round of English Champion 2017
PANO – More than 2,000 contestants on March 5th entered the second round of the 2017 English Champion in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh cities.
At this round, the participants competed via internet within 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the grades. English questions relating to Mathematics and Science accounted for 40-45% of the total scores and the questions also required high academic competency in English knowledge.

According to Truong Minh Chau, Training Director of Ismart Education and Head professional advisor of the contest, the round is designed to evaluate the skills of listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and writing under the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). With limited time, candidates cannot look up documents or ask others for help. Only candidates with competent knowledge and skills, and get used to working with time pressures, can get high scores.
After the round, 500 highest-score candidates will enter the third round with different forms and procedures that require students’ agility, confidence, bravery, and scientific way of thinking.
The annual competition for the 4th – 8th grade students is held by the Vietnam Central Study Encouragement Association, EQuest Academy, in collaboration with the Vietnamese American English Center (VATC).
